I wouldn't water the whole pot until more roots have grown out, but, I would put some sphagnum moss around the roots and mist the surface everyday to prevent them drying out and encourage growth. I've rehabbed many orchids this way until they grew stronger root systems.

aztcqn, Next to your name makes me think you live in a very dry climate? If so the catt may be living in a humid climate. If so the sphagnum may cause trouble. But helpful in an arid environment...what ever is going on don't stop because the roots show good culture...durring the growth of the wrinkled leaf it may not have had enough water. Cant change that leaf. Other leaves look OK.

So nix the sphagnum. Encourage the new roots. I use maxi-crop, a root stimulator. It is available on the internet. Not sure if they ship to Mexico. Maxi-crop would be worth the freight. And get the powdered form to save freight over the liquid. This stuff is a game changer. With orchids and exposed roots you get feed back in a few days. All plants do better with it.

Do you feed according to the package recommendations or a different amount? and at what frequency? Would this be a similar product to Superthrive?/ does anyone use Superthrive on their orchids. I have a pretty pitiful Phal that I am trying to rehab and it is in serious need of some new roots.

Sammers,, That is the stuff. It is not fertilizer. I add it to the fertilizer each feeding. I think super thrive is a fertilizer. Not sure. Follow the directions. Make sure not to introduce water in the maxi-crop pouch. Kinda tough because you are around water when adding. If water gets in the pouch it may clog your sprayer. Many people prefer the liquid. I buy the powder, exactly the same, because it is cheaper. It is not magic so if the phal is poor it might not matter. Maxi-crop is good on all plants. I use it on my herbs and veggies. It goes on my orchids every 2 weeks. Some use it once a week. Cant hurt. Good luck
