To. Die. For. I can't believe such a dark leaf cutting produced a white plant! Is that laurentii or hahnii?

Can't help to notice the first few leaves are all white while the last one has some green in the center. Tells me it has a chance to continue to grow. I'm jealous of her also. Keep us informed. Looks like it is over a year old already.

I talked to my mom today and asked her to send a new picture of her plant.

My mom sent me this picture this morning. Two outer white leaves are rotting from the tip.

Cut them off before they rot to the crown. Half leaf better than dead plant. Normally it would heal itself but not the weak yellow kind. Crown rot is most deadly for these sans. Watch that water.

Thanks Stush. I told her to cut them off and watch for crown rot. She only waters when dry. She lives in Florida and keeps it on her lanai. If it was outside it would get rained on every day.

It is from a green hahnii, a leaf that got broken when she was separating a pot full. She thought it was so strange. She grew up in the nursery business and from her knowledge of cuttings she thought it should have been green. :-)

Your mom is right, the plant should have been green from a green leaf. So her white plant, which has to be 'Solid Gold', is an extremely unusual event. As you know, an albino plant can be produced if it arises from the white tissue of a variegated leaf, but from a totally green leaf... amazing!

I agree with Stush, I would cut the rotting leaves away. My 2 cents... I'd also remove that small white one, it's only a detriment to the plant having no green whatsoever. I would leave only the two leaves with some light green showing.

If your mom is watering this plant, I would tell her to back way off and maybe she can save it. If she has been keeping it very dry already, I guess it's just getting weak and will probably wither over time. Odd though, since it's attached to the green leaf... maybe the attachment rhizome has rotted away and severed the connection.

This has been very interesting, keep us posted.
