Cute house. I would sacrifice the linen closet by the powder room in favor of your large pantry AND a mudroom. But do you want your pantry in the dining room?

Here are two options, although I think the scale might be off a bit.

If you like either option, I can put it on a grid for a more accurate scale.

If you get rid of the door from the kitchen to the porch (you really don't wan't foot traffic through your kitchen anyway), it opens up more options. There's a door from the great room that's close enough to be convenient for outdoor dining.

It looks like there are posts at the end of the island in the original drawing. I'd bet those are there for critical structural reasons, but they've gone away in your proposed floorplan. It may be possible to engineer around the missing columns (possibly also expensive), but you should talk to an architect or structural engineer before getting too wedded to the change.

Why do you want to swap the kitchen and dining? What will be gained?

Have you considered pushing the pdr. room toward the entry hall by eliminating the little linen closet; there would be more room for a true laundry room, coat closet/cubbies and a walk in pantry?

I want to make this switch because I want to putt he kitchen closer to the back yard for grilling. And because I think it's a nicer entry from the garage because you're walking towards a rounded table not an island. Yes, the pantry will be across the diningi room, but it's not all that many steps.

I like these two layouts!

I already know what I'm going to do with the linen closets and laundry.
