decorating the bathroom?

this is what i have to work with. I have a pantry/medicine cabinet unit that still needs to get installed on the vanity top. I need some ideas what color/type of window treatment, trim color...keep it white? What can I do with the wall space around tub? Maybe another towel rod in the middle off the tub also?? I was just thinking some wall art or maybe some nickel/glass shelves? I am a guy and have no eye for decorating and really have no idea what to do. Any input would be great!

I would pick an accent color for artwork, towels, even the window treatment(or you could keep it neutral) ....green, navy...just about any color would work. A Roman shade is a great idea as heide suggested. I would nix shelves over the toilet or tub....awkward to dust/clean them in those spaces and one more thing to clean! I would do three prices of art.....one at each end of the tub facing each other and one over the toilet. They don't have to match...just coordinate. Nice bathroom!

Thanx that shade looks nice right there! Where is it from? Can I go dark to match vanity? How about the trim? Make same color as wall or something else?

I would do the trim in the same color (white?) as around your door frame.

Add a nice piece of art to the right hand wall of where the medicine chest will be installed. From that one piece of art choose a color than you feel works well with your bathroom and buy towels in that color or you can use all white.

Something like this from Blinds 2go might look nice. It just depends on the overall look you are after.

Regarding the art-I don't find it creepy at all..it's a bit moody, yes, but wonderful

I can see it's under glass though? if yes put it where you can see it without the light bouncing off the glass.

As far as the artwork goes I would put that art on the left wall the space is 41x41 would 28x28 be to big? I've read conflicting things online regarding size

Oh poo Billy, I just noticed that blinds 2go is in the U.K . Not sure if this " Cardigan Stripe Stone" shade can be had here in the states. But, you say you have a store near you? Perhaps you could do a google image search to see if there is something close. It would look nice. Or, take a picture to the store,

We have blindstogo here without the "2"... I will see if U.K. store will send a sample

I bought these Roman Shades at Home Depot for my own bathroom.

I like the art you picked - I find it serene and appropriate for a bathroom.

BTW, guys are equally good at decorating as women. My mother and sister were both terrible at it, especially my sister.

Yep, I know you are right Lars. One of my sons is very good at decorating. At first he was just unsure of his likes in the big scheme of things but soon won't need me at all. We had some good times getting things together for his first home purchase. Strangely though there were a few here that thought because he was a son and not a daughter I should have just thrown anything together.

    Your new bathroom looks great.

It looks like you do not have a lot of counter space. Some shelves by the sink might be useful for that purpose, but someone with a better sense of design would know for sure.

hoovb tomorrow they are installed a pantry cabinet in the far right corner so that will eat up some space

Over the years I have just found most woman seem to have an innate ability to decorate, coordinate and match colors!! but thats just my view.... I had a guy on here gimme my backsplash for my second floor apartment kitchen. It made me a firm believer in this site!! the backsplash made the whole kitchen, I mean it looked fantastic!! I recently moved floors and I will miss that backsplash, I forgot the guys name but i think he was like a legend on here montolo or something like that!

i have some roman shades samples i like....i know its hard to tell colors on the comp but are u guys feeling the lighter or darker sample...also got the pantry in it came out kinda nice!

what do ya'll think of this shade....with all the art Im thinking of keeping the shade less busy.....its matches the walls pretty good, i'm thinking keeping the trims white for slight contrast on the shade ...thoughts?

You are probably referring to MongoCt, he's the best, gave us amazing advise when we redid our master bath a few years back.

As for the shade. If quiet and low key is your preference, I would find something that is the closest match to the tile so the contrast will mimic the tile and wall color. If you match the wall color, I think it it will look too blah and basically disappear visually. Keep in mind too that with the tile color, dust will not show as much. :c)

I like your last choice with the white trim.

this is a linen one closer to tile color...and has a slight bit more texture

here the 2 sample side by side

I prefer the contrast so I'd go with the darker one. It looks like it matches a color in the mosaic as well.

    Yes, the darker one.

ok so definitely going with the darker "sand color" roman...im gonna get a different style but color the same.....I have an great match paint that is the same as the sand colored shade....should i paint the trim/door that color or keep it white? getting ready to give it the final paint on door.

    I'd keep the trim white.

    Billy thanked k9arlene

Ok that's enough for me white it is

Smart decision, white trim against the colors you're using will be very pretty.
