red sofa

I need help decorating my family room. I have this one red sofa but would like to put an additional sofa against the other wall and 4rollaway ottoman for additional storage and seating. I need help with the other sofa style and would like it to be a blue or I'm open to suggestions.

Which wall? Hard to tell from just the one picture. Without seeing the entire space how about two chairs & an ottoman rather than another sofa? In a neutral & patterned would be nice too.

Do you think another sofa would be too busy?

Without seeing the room in its entirety, I would think the only way you could have two sofas is if each were perpendicular to the fireplace wall.

As an aside, I do not care for the placement of the sofa now.

A couple more pictures would help…one from the front window and a good shot of the fireplace would help.

What a gorgeous sofa! but I don't like where it's placed. Also I agree the picture on the wall is too high

I'll jump on the bandwagon - more pics would help. But, with what you've sent us -- I think I'd first center your couch to the fireplace, then float it away from the wall -- put a long sofa table behind it with some buffet lamps, family pictures, etc. It will help warm up the space. Then, buy your storage ottoman and use it as your coffee table with a tray/books on top. I'd get two comfy club chairs and place them on either side of the fireplace at an angle looking toward the couch. I'd find another place for your end table and get smaller diameter tables to place at one or both club chairs. It looks like a lovely room!

I'd agree with coopermcboo! I'd say do a chair or two versus another sofa.

any suggestions on what kind of chairs? I'm more modern and clean lines

Shirl M the shape of the sofa and the pillow are more traditional. I suggest a lighter art piece over the sofa.

Hmmm I don't know if I'd go with a solid blue. If you are set on incorporating blue into the room I'd do a pattern that has blue in it.

With that said, I'd probably swap out your accent pillows on the couch to something that ties the couch to the color family of whatever chair you get - maybe a throw too!

Good suggestions for furniture arrangement. Something to tie in your red would be nice.

I would set up your room like in the second picture. For decent storage, you could add bookcases on the wall as you come down the stairs. I would say no to adding another couch (and not blue)...creams would be more complimentary for furniture. See first picture how relaxing it feels and you could bring in blue with your pillows and art. Before purchasing individual items, do a floor plan and look at lots of pictures for inspiration so you have an overall plan.

I'd get two neutral chairs and add more interest and color with pillows. Consider moving the TV to the stairwell wall and setting up the chairs and sofa perpendicular to the FP/TV locations. Swivel chairs will turn easily to admire the fire or watch TV.

Either pull your sofa away from the wall, leaving space to walk behind it, or place it perpendicular to the fireplace. Love the red!
