Hi Esmeralda. Glad to see you back. I have not grown citrus indoors all year round. I think you will have a hard time doing that unless you provide supplemental lighting. You will also have increased chances of having problems with insects.

Vladimir, my reason for keeping indoors is the insects, you telling me it's more prone to insects indoors. I lost all my trees due to I think gnats. Meyer lemon is the only one that did ok. I have a gritty mix I ordered in a pot with a tree that is now dead, you think if I soak the mix a few days I can plant the navel in it ?

No question, Citrus are much more prone to insect issues indoors. (But that may depend on where you are located geographically.) I am a bit confused by this posting though. The gnats were an issue on outdoor trees? Containerized? In the ground? If you are) set on growing primarily indoors, the best options would be Calamondin and Kumquats/Fortunella (both are modest in size and Kumquats in my experience are MUCH LESS prone to pests indoors compared to true Citrus.

I had them outdoors last summer then brought them in over winter. Too late on purchasing your options on trees already purchased the navel. Guess I'll put it outdoors and try my luck when bringing them in late this year again

Esmeralda, gnats do not kill trees. You may have over watered them and that is what may have killed them.
