If they taste good great. They look nice and healthy. I don't know what they are but I am assuming that you didn't buy it. What side of the equator are you on. That will help knowing what it could be by comparing its ripening date with known varieties.

I am located south to the equator under the tropic of capricorn. I bought it from a garden centre however they were only vague about the variety labelling same as citrus reticulata.

I am curious as it happened that one which had only a tinge of orange dropped accidentaly when moving the tree, it was so sweet that I was so happy. I cannot imagine the sweetness when the rest will ripen.

This is why I want to ID the tree. I have another tree I have bought from the same garden centre and the leaves are of oval shape compare to this tree.

Your mandarins may not ever get orange in your climate; but when fully ripe they will drop off the tree. Try them when they start getting a little yellow.

It is more important to know when the fruits of a variety ripen than the name or it. Getting a few more trees with staggering ripening dates will do you well. The tropic of capricorn line is at 23.5 degrees of the equator Why not plant it in ground outside. It will gtow much bigger and give loads of fruit. I am 39 degrees north of the eqautor and it still seems less labor intensive to grow outside with winter protection than to deal will moving pots around and or just maintaining them.

Due to space restriction in an urban environment I have to keep it in a container. I have about 10 tangerine trees and in no way I can predict when they will fruit. I have other tangerine as well which are almost similar but however the fruit is sour and gives only a hint of sweetness.

We have only 2 season here, summer where the temp is from 28-38 degrees celcius and winter where the temp is around 17-27 degrees celcius.
