Here are some photos. So sad. Is it heart rot or just because of these evil maggots? Before photo with maggots after I removed the leaves hiding them. I then removed what I could with tweezers. And took an after photo. I don't want to loose it because it has a baby as you will see in the last photo. I'm so sad it was beautiful for so long an now i think im screwed just want some opinions.

They're eating the center out cause the flower/fruit is rotting away so there is no way to save it you will need to start over with a new crown or sucker or slip if you have some... if you do happen to start over use new soil and make sure to wash pot out good before reusing it..... if when the strong wind blew it over and the soil came out that easy than it didn't have that strong of a root system..... I'm in florida and we get some pretty bad storms with strong winds sometimes a few of my plants get knocked over but i don't lose much soil cause the root system is really strong.... i see in one of your photos you have a sucker growing from out of the ground wait till its bigger around 10 or 12 Inch's and than remove it and reuse it to grow from

And the things you call Maggots Look more like Gnat Larvae or some other kinda Larvae but there not Maggots

Thank you! While waiting for the sucker to get 10 or 12 in will the larvae or evil things they are, attack the sucker?

Make sure also, that your pineapples don't get chilled. Perhaps you set them out too early in the year?

I'd not set them out until nights are reliably above 55 degrees F. That way if it rains, you minimize the chance of them rotting. Once they are growing actively in the heat, I think they can take quite a fair amount of moisture provided the soil is free-draining.

Thanks for your comment. This isn't due to rot it is clearly fly larvae. The plant is still growing fine has 4 suckers now and still fruiting even tho I don't be able to eat the fruit after this damage. I did put one of my pineapple out too early one time and did suffer rot which was heartbreakong, lesson learned.

I think the larvae are opportunistic and feeding on the rotting matter. They are likely not the cause of the rot.
