I don't actually mind the two different whites, but I think that the starkness of the white and the darkness of the slate would be pulled together if you could find a gray (or blended white/gray/tan) counter. It might be worth looking for remnants at stone yards, since you might find something fabulous at a real discount, and you only need a small piece (compared to a kitchen).

Thank you for your help and the photos! We are going to the yard to pick out the stone this weekend. I have been searching and searching for photos of white vanities with this slate-looking (because I know it's not real slate!) floor and the gray counter like you mentioned may be a great way to balance the two.

I just resolved this same issue! It took a couple of months deciding on a new bathroom countertop, but ultimately I stuck with white -- except with a little necessary added interest!

My husband, one who never cares less about these decisions, who even refuses to give input, now has told me 3 times in 3 weeks how he loves this countertop. Score!!

Thanks for this! Do you have a photo showing the flooring too? In my head I was thinking this exact option. White quartz with more "speckles"! (We used white quartz in our last house for the kitchen before moving to this house but it didn't have these flakes or speckles so I knew for this bathroom I needed something different). Hopefully I can get some samples of white and gray options and make a decision :)

I was trying to downplay what I thought was already enough brown and gray "movement," because it's a pretty large bathroom; lots of this tile there. So white speckled/slight mirror counters won out! :)

A darker countertop would look great with the floor and new color of your vanity.
