Teasing Georgia is starting to bloom

I absolutely love this rose and this would be one id always have in any garden . Warning tho, I haven't begun work on mulching this bed so ignore that . I have roses coming from ru next week that will fill in the bed .

Well the weeds make a nice sedum looking carpet right ? Haha

Currently pruned back to 4 ft but I generally don't prune much in the summer so she'll be much bigger soon !

That's beautiful, your roses look very healthy! Love the wishing well, such a nice touch. I'm also wondering how long you've had your Austins, they look so vigorous and healthy?

This will be its 3 year I believe! I planted it when we first moved in as well as qos. I just looked up my order and I also had 3 other Austins planted but they didn't survive. I wish I could remember why tho , definitely my fault though.

Teasing Georgia is so vigorous! It's grafted . Do you grow it ? Everyone should !

Thanks, Lily! No, I don't have it, only have Darcey Bussell and Lady of Shalott, they're grafted too, and it's their 3rd season, but they are probably one-third the size of yours. However, I just got Abe Darby, Molineux and Heritage from ARE, hope they do better.

Oh, I like yours in shrubBush form! Mine is 2nd year own root, but has a 12ft cane and the ubiquitous octopus canes already. Can't wait until it flowers in yr 3!

Oh I love Teasing Ga too. I hard pruned her one year so I could get a pillar on her to support those wonderful blooms and she hardly bloomed that year. She has bloomed great since. Gorgeous bush Lily. Girl I have the same weeds going rampant. Wish the weeds would magically disappear.

Your first pic is so picturescue. Love the whole scene. Needs to be a post card!! Judy

Looks so pretty Lily! I have a TG that I neglected bad for sev years. Moved her this spring and cut waaaay back. She's JUST started leafing a little. I was hoping I hadn't killed her poor thing. She is a beautiful one for sure! I agree with Judy... beautiful scene! Very peaceful :)

Wonderful, Lily, thanks for sharing! It's so good to see TGs blooms. Mine will not be in bloom for about 2-3 weeks. She is also one of my favorite.

Lilyfinch - I was just googling Teasing Georgia Without Support and your Houzz post came up! I just got my 1 gallon own root from Heirloom Roses on Tuesday. Here are two questions for you:

    1) would you plant the 1 gallon own-root right away, or put it in a 2-3 gallon pot and then wait for cool fall weather? WE're about to get a heat wave, so I won't plant it this weekend, for sure.

    2) How do you think TG would do on a south facing slope that gets a bit of dappled shade during the heat of the late afternoon. I'm worried maybe it won't get as much water as it would want...but maybe it would be okay with a big basin around it?

I have my rose/cottage border that you've seen pictures of -- on one side of the border is my walkway and then house. On the far side of the border is a slope -- not too wide - but steep enough that I need stepping stones /stairs and I go slower on them so I don't accidentally break my neck...

Hi Deborah ! All I can say is it will be so big !! I miss this rose so much . what a wonderful rose !! I think the dappled shade will help, I have some roses in that now and they seem to like it after the hot morning sun. also id just pot it up. That’s just me . It’s so so dang hot ! 112 this weekend here !! Ugh . Someone turn off the oven !
