The white mark on the right looks like damage - possibly thrips. But I agree that the mark in the lower petal looks like a fantasy stripe. If you also selfed it, you might get lucky and pair up the recessive.

Thanks Hyn. I learned alot fromyou and the others on this forum. I am glad that I joined. BTW how is your dwarf arabic seedlings doing. My already starting to pop up. This batch is a mess. Most seedling already showing sign of rot and a handful only have one leaf. My adenium luck seems to be quite low. Hope when May comes my adenium luck will be better. Maybe next time I have to disinfect the seeds before I sow them.

I was sent two dwarf arabicums last August and both seeds germinated and have been growing nicely. Of the new batch of seeds, nothing as germinated yet which worries me this may be a bad seed batch. But until they decide to up and rot on me I haven't given up on them yet. I usually get signs of germination within 2 days though and nothing so far. The regular RCN seeds also arrived and I've started them but too early to say.

I ordered from King Adenium. Other seeds I got from this seller came up nicely. It just the PMK giving me problems. Only about 50% germinated. I hope your germinate soon. April of 2017 end tonight. New month and new luck :).

I"m told that the various postal systems sometimes irradiate packages and letters precisely to ... discourage sending seeds and things. And these were not actually clearly marked as seeds, so it is possible they are all duds and it may be no fault of the sellers. That would just be my bad luck, if so. I can always reorder later though if that turns out to be the case and suck up the small loss. But, hopefully /some/ of them will germinate so we'll see. I -usually- get excellent germination on adenium seeds but once in a while, I don't.

Will someone confirm these are seed pods. I pollinated my triple white to the arabicum. The first two tries the pod stay light green / yellow and felt off. The third time the pod seems to start swelling and started to turn red. Right now only my tripple white is blooming so I use it's pollens and pollinate all my single with it :). This is one of the many plants Mocropot gave me.

hi shang your seeling mix looks like it is holding to much water why dont you try my seedling mix 1 small bag of succulent mix 1 small bag of fine perlite 1 small block of fine coco husk mix it all together put your seeds in and water daily with a spray bottle (fine mist) just till the top is wet i have very good success have alook at the post i done today to give you a idear peter

Oooh, that triple white is a very nice one. Your seedlings look good! I saw Ram and others starting seedlings in plastic slotted basket trays to help with drainage. I thought it was a good idea and I may try it myself. Something like this, but some cheap Dollar General version because these are much too expensive.

Thanks Hyn. WalMart has some nice baskets for less than 3 dollars a piece. I think pot, basket, bag, mediums are all personal preference. Anything we throw at them they will find their way to grow and survive. Below is my very first batch of seedling from KingAdenium. Hopefully, I have sometime this weekend to repot them.

Soon as hurricane season settles in I'll start having trouble with seedlings rotting. Not many, but a few. So I may try the slotted baskets - I will check Walmart. Especially with the more expensive Thai Socco seeds I don't want to loose any. Regular flats seem to be all right for the obesum since I keep getting free seeds. I bring the trays inside if there will be a lot of rain but sometimes things catch me by surprise when I have to travel away.

Ah, though zippered plants don't bloom as a rule. Assuming 'crested' in this case means the same as in cacti. You might not care if it doesn't bloom though if you are interested in the form. ;)

As for the frogs with the piggyback rides - seems the doves round here are also having free piggyback rides. It's becoming almost embarrassing to sit outside now with the doves. I think we'll have more than just baby Adeniums around here soon. Giggle giggle :D

I used to have a rooster and many hens. Every day he makes sure he rides every single hens. I missed them alot. Sorry for the off topic.

Admittedly I /like/ the chickens. I wanted to have some myself here but I have a chicken killer dog, coons, possums, foxes, coyotes, and neighbor's loose dogs. My neighbors had a predator proof chicken coop but the coons just reach through the wire, grab a chicken and shredded them through the wire so that didn't work. Would have to have a double barrier with a gap and that's just a lot of trouble. And nothing open topped because of all our hawks. So, I didn't go that route. Yours were cute!

I used the 1/2in fence for my coop. The possums came to my house daily. I have had forgot to close the door one time and the possums killed all the chicks and injured the mother hen. But the hen repopulate within a month time :). I allow my chicken run loose in my fenced back yard. They ate all the critter and most of my green veggie.

Dispirite the rain, it opened another flower. It supposedly triple layers.

Nothing unusual for a plant that has the genetics for double or triple flowers to sometimes throw a single. Wait and see, Shang. It happens all the time with other kinds of plants and usually as it matures and has more energy to put into the flowers, they'll tend to be much better than a seedling's first attempts.

They have be neglected for at least two years. Possible from lack of nutrition. It appeared to have lot of green pigment. It will pollinate itself in hope to produce a green flower. Lol. Speaking of pollination.

I do LOVE that green center hue, yes. Not a fan of green or black flowers much myself but a bit of green inside of the color is very nice. Speaking of pollination... I have a few streptocarpus I really need to cross before the flowers get too old on me. Oops.

I love the black color. However, The seeds and grafted plants I brought didn't come true so far :(. The above red flower supposed to be black. The black pigment faded and turn red the next day. Below is the flower they advertised. Hopefully, next year it will come close.

Hmm, I hope the grafted plants would bloom pretty close. Seed however is a crap shoot of genetics and most of it will not look much like the parent plants. That's actually quite normal. Long term line breeding can help nail down traits but we have no idea how they have been crossing them. Most fancy adenium flowers and triples have only come about in the last decade. The first triple flower only happened about 20 years ago and then it took a good long workup to get that into other varieties. They haven't had a long time to nail down these traits solidly yet and a lot of hybridizers don't line breed their crosses at all.

People who make the seed don't actually tell us if they have selfed the flowers or crossed them with something else. So unless you find a hybridizer who tells you what they are crossing and why, what generation they are on with that cross, and their percentages, it's very hit or miss. Some do document this data and those are the best hybridizers. But many of them guard that information jealously from each other and don't want to share it.

My tripple white seed pots opened today. 78 appeared to be viable seeds. Anyone like to trade :)

Hi shang what happened to the DHA seedlings

Six seeds that sprouted are doing great. Not much happen (Cosman's). Some how my other DHA seedlings got knocked over and a few died. Their roots system is very fragile compared to other species. Be very careful when repotting them. My suggestions are after repotting, place them in a shaded area, and cover them for humidity.

Still looking good mate i love how compact they are .just soaking my DHA now allso bang wang i went down town yesterday bought a roll of cotton wool going to germinate them in the wool this time then move them to the grow tent. Im still a little paranoid that these seeds may have bug's in them and affect my other seeds like it did last time. I will take some pictures of my survivors later. I will show u my DHA:×)

I think it best to grow them individually rather than in community pot. Repot is a risky thing to do for DHA.

Speaking of chickens, I hear that chicken manure is one of the most popular fertilizers for adenium growers in Thailand.
