All these Hoyas, succulents...now what???

We may be moving. I hate all the "up in the air" not knowing.

My husband has to return to work. He could get a job where we stay right here or somewhere in state or somewhere with a totally different climate.

I just want to whine, I guess. I am so stressed out. I have lived my whole 59 years of life in the same area. I do see this as an adventure but I start thinking too much and I am a ball of nerves!

I have plants that I love, my chickens that I will probably have to give up. I love my chickens. I have a LIFE here. whine....

I woke up and could not go back to sleep...

Even if you have a serious move, I'd just find a way to take a lot of it with me. I've moved boat-loads of plants (not as many as I have now, mind you...) I would probably seriously scrutinize my collection and decide what I can't live without and take the rest with me. And if you consider your chickens "pets" (which I would, too), find a way to take them, too. It's those things that are familiar to you that will make your new location feel like "home".

Of course, if staying put was an option for me, that would get my vote, too. I feel the same way you do... I'm about your age, and I've been in my house for 30 years next month, and I've always said I have no intentions of ever moving again. Circumstances can change our plans, though. I just try to remember that everything is always working out exactly as it's supposed to.

I understand, military life is a lifetime of moves. Perhaps try to look at this as a new life for your plants with new atmosphere and possibly new chickens, life is always an adventure if you make it that way

thanks for your comments. I'm not quite as stressed now. I got a lot of work done in the yard the other day. That is always good for the soul not to mention good for re-sale. hehe.

Doing the "what if" will make it harder. Until you know for sure I wouldn't stress so much about it, and enjoy any time you have in your favorite spot.

If your husband does get a job elsewhere, then that is where you have to go, for the income. Been there and I understand its difficult but you can do it. If you are a spiritual person, I would recommend giving it up to God and at the same time thanking Him for what you have now; and then letting it go. Live by the saying, "Bloom where you are planted". :)

I'm more used to the idea of moving. some things (problems?) it would be nice to leave behind. other things need to fixed (siding) before selling. i look at my plants and think "your coming with me" or "I don't need you anymore"...same goes for stuff in the house. In fact I can't wait to get rid of the clutter. It is an opportunity.

If it comes down to moving I will have a garage sale and let the Master Gardeners know that I will be selling a lot of plants and hopefully they will find a nice home.

And really there are some of my older hoyas I'm just "over" and no use in keeping them.

I know what you mean about clutter. My "new" husband is still in the process of moving his "clutter" in with my "clutter" :-O ......but why won't you be taking plants with you? Take cuttings of your favorites if you can :) .......my plants sooth me after a long day at work.

I will be taking plants with me but I have over 500 plants in pots. I've done a lot of propagating for a sale in the fall. I may be here then...maybe not.
