Nailhead Trim Advice

Is it ok to have nailhead trim on non-matching sofa and chairs? I'm looking at chairs from Z Gallerie and a couch from Crate and Barrel. See attached photos.

Brian, I have a question. Are the colors of the chairs and the sofa the same colors of the pictures you provided?

Yes. Those are the two exact pieces we are interested in.

Other Pros may disagree with me, but I wouldn't go for nail head trim on the sofa. The two pieces are so different, both in style and color. I don't know your reasoning for nail head trim on the sofa, unless it is just because you like it. The trim won't tie the sofa and chairs together. If I were you, I would go with just the nail head trim on the chairs to keep them more unique. Also, are you planning on putting pillows on the sofa that include white (and other compatible colors) to tie all the seating together? Right now, visually it is a big jump from the white to the navy without some continuity in color.

Thanks for the thoughts. My gut said the same but the nailhead contrast on the blue look really nice to us. That was the inspiration for the room. We happened to find the chairs secondarily, but they come only with nailheads. I have an option for no nailheads on the couch, but it seems really plain without it. We would tie the room together with pillows on the blue sofa and an area rug.

Oh...any color recommendations on pillows and rug?

If you have some colorful pillows on the sofa, it won't seem so plain. What colors you have on the pillows will depend on a few things. How many pillows are you going to have on the sofa? If only two, then I would recommend getting pillows that have more than one color. I would suggest getting a combination of white, plus one or more colors. You could include light blue, light gray, black, silver, and so on. Something that will provide the "pop" that the nail heads would have provided. Or, if you will have four pillows (two on each end of the sofa), then you could have one white pillow and one colorful pillow on each end, depending on how large the sofa is. If the sofa is more the size of a loveseat, you don't won't to overwhelm it with pillows. Does your room have a particular style to it? What other colors do you have in the room? Those are key to determining what colors to use.

Skip the white chair altogether. Unless you're going ultra-contemporary or retro, white leather is either too clinical or too Pat-Booneish. Go with ivory or natural or a color or a pattern instead.

It's a blank slate...we lean towards the contemporary side.

IMO nailheads can become overdone very quickly i would keep them to one large piece. I do not agree about white leather I have it in my LR and I love it .
