Same Drapes or Different -Open Floor Plan

I moved into my house about 6 months ago and am slowly decorating. Im going to add curtains to my patio door (currently nothing there) and am wondering if I should add matching curtains to my large window in the living room (currently white simple decorative curtain that I do like). Same wall...different rooms? What do y'all think? I included a picture of the curtains Im purchasing and a picture of the wall...excuse my mess. Thanks!

I agree with Ingrid. I might even go with a drape more like the wall color so the view stands out...not the drapes....but you still have something soft on the window. Something with texture would add another dimension.

Thank you for your advice. My wall color in the living room is collonade....a light "griege". I have shiplap painted in white around my patio door. So if I matched my white drapes around my large living room window to my patio door it would be white drapes on white shiplap. Which is fine but I feel like I have so many neutrals in my house and not enough color. I was originally going to leave my patio bare but the sun shines in so bright around dinner time we can't see.

Seems I post this suggestion every week or two, sorry for the repetition, but I had the same problem on my dining room window, just at dinner time, certain months of the year. I don't have any draperies or window coverings at all, so I purchased one of these, with a remote control and lower it when needed. It is very unobtrusive on the outside and if hung high as possible above your door, it wouldn't be very noticeable at all and is still long enough to be effective. Of course, it doesn't need to be lowered over the whole door because the sun will be coming through the upper part. They block the bright sun, but you can still see out and enjoy the view.

I was telling my husband about this olychick based on your recommendation. We have such bright sun in two areas. I want to see out but cant stand the glare. and going over the couch to get to the blinds is not easy.

Can people see in? What about when the lights are on?

I never thought of drapes as 'taking away' from the view. In answer to your question, I don't think you need to have the same drapes on the slider and the windows as they're in different rooms. I like the idea of drapes as oppposes to the shades, as drapes will soften the look of the slider and add color to your room.

I used different drapes for my kitchen nook and family room that can both be seen head on like in your home. One is a stripe and the other is a vine/floral, but they share the same colors.

finallyhome, they are not opaque, they only block the sun's brightness, so if it's dark outside and light in the house, people could see in. When it's sunny out you probably couldn't see into the house from the outside.

And these are mounted outside of the house, so won't be seen at all from the inside unless they are rolled down to block the sun.
