We have several acres and will be putting in fruit trees and a garden a good distance from the house. We'd like to run pipe from the house so we can water as needed. (Not an automated irrigation system, just an outdoor faucet like at the cemetery.)

A neighbor has access to equipment, but we'd like to know the basics: what kind of pipe, how deep, (zone 5, New England), how to drain for winter. We'd get our plumber to make the connection.
