My globbas and curcumas that went dormant are taking their time returning this year. My other gingers never went dormant this year at all. We had such a warm winter and I covered them during the few freezes we had. Some, I had in the greenhouse and they love it in there and get huge.

yea, my curcuma is still dormant. It could be lack of rain. One of my gingers (orange flower but don't know variety) it up and growing.

My pinecone gingers are still not up.

Thanks, I was starting to worry they rotted. Lost some canna that way this winter.

Wouldn't you know it but my pine cone ginger just popped the first sprout.

Carol, I thin you're right on the money. Even some of my most tropical plants are slow to come back this year. Some however are roaring along. I think it's species-specific, and also the lack of water has slowed a lot down too.

All of my gingers are up with 5-6" spears - have been up for about 5-7 days. Hope everyone is seeing theirs, now, too.

My gingers are about knee high now, no cones yet.

Yep! We had a huge rain storm about two weeks ago. Rained all day... two inches of rain, I think. Few days later, they all popped up. One only has two growths... not sure what it needs. Should be a big clump by now.

Pea, Carol mine are about a foot high too.
