Sam, we need a little more information. Annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees? Your general location, please.

SC has a very good and involved extension service that can help direct you to some good advice. The truth is, the list of sun loving shrubs and perennials in that part of SC is enormous.

You'll need to take a good look at your planting site and your particular landscape needs, then learn to narrow your requirements if you seriously want some valuable advice.

For example, "I have heavy clay soil that is sometimes too moist. Are there any sun loving, evergreen shrubs that I can keep pruned to about five feet tall? The bed is nearly eight feet wide." That very brief description would be a good start.

Check out Clemson's HGIC website for information.
