Sorry Christopher no one has replied. I am a Master Gardener here in So NV and I also work at the Star Nursery on Blue Diamond. Hopefully you have gotten some advice by now but if not, this is what I would advise. I would soak those bare areas really well. I would aerate the soil, spread 1/4 inch of Stinkin' Rich manure, water that in well. I would then lay some top soil down to attain a level surface, sprinkle with Starter Fertilizer for sod or seed, then, sprinkle with the Shady grass seed, top off with more Top Soil and keep this watered very frequently. This is a great time of year to do this. Also we have a new Scott's product that can be sprayed over the lawn and watered in to help the soil loosen up, become softer and better for the lawn to flourish within. Fertilize everything in your yard now also. We do Desert watering here; that means in Sp, Sum, Fall we start our water early at 6 am for 60 mins with drippers on trees, shrubs, roses. Your grass is watered 4 min, rest 30, 4 min water, rest 30, 4 min. In summer this is daily, the rest of the year you can space it as needed. Never water at night unless the water begins around 4 am to resist fungus issues. The way to win here is to continue to improve the soil, otherwise it is dead, no kidding. Spreading Humic Acid, Azomite under your plants on a regular basis will feed the soil and your plants. Both products are available at Star. Come see me with questions. And on any of your bare soil around plants, put down our shredded red cedar mulch. It is very beneficial to the soil and plants plus it looks attractive.
