My rainforest sunrise is in a pot, so difficult to compare. However, of all my potted hosta it is among the slowest to unfurl.

Agreed! And as much as I look forward to everything coming up in the spring, sometimes I wish more of them were late sleepers... this time of year is so unpredictable! Last night I put a couple of potted plants (not hostas) in the garage because I feared it would get too cold for them - a hanging fern, some zonal geraniums, a pot of streptocarpella. I have probably been pushing the envelope by having them outside this early anyway. I usually say I won't plant anything until Mother's Day... but then I go ahead and start earlier... those trips to the nursery always get me!

windymess..it's hard not to start buying and planting too soon..I've done it..some of my early risers have a little damage (not bad)..have too many to cover and we had a couple of cold nights..at least Rainforest Sunrise should be perfect lol..isn't it funny how hostas vary as to when they wake up?

I understand too well about the early risers. I have a guacamole that I moved a week ago, it was too close to my house, soil too warm. I added it last summer in a sunnier spot, but the weird weather gave it damaged leaves. Hopefully it won't rise as early next season, it seems happy in its new spot. I have a Fragrant bouquet that seem to have a bit of early leaf damage every season, give it a few weeks and those wonky leaves aren't noticeable.

Sherry..I'm TRYING to enjoy my plants and worry less about flaws..as the season gets going I'm less of a perfectionist but when something happens to a new, fresh, perfect plant I cringe..

update..pic from yesterday..Rainforest Sunrise is left of 2 giants(?)..they're younger but are incredibly slower than the giants so I worried..hope the standing water doesn't kill them..can't find a solution to this drainage issue (only heavy rains) grrr..

My Rainforest Sunrise is planted in the ground. It was one of the last of my hostas to pop up. But now that it has, it is growing apace. So I guess it's a late arriver, according to accounts posted here.

Nicholsworth- wow, I hope the rain subsides soon! We're being deluged here this weekend too, but maybe not as badly.

windymess..on TV there's endless alerts of flash flood warnings with a list of counties..we aren't in a flood zone but our lot is lower than the neighbors and we get standing water..enough to attract ducks!

You asked about late risers. RFS is late for me too. Also late I find are some of the Tokudamas. Tokudama Flavocircinalis and its sport Gold Bullion are both late. As well, Rhino Hide, Praying Hands, and Lakeside Paisley Print are just pipping right now while others are in full leaf.
