I'm in Ottawa, too.

I had a hard time germinating these as well this year. Mine were commercial bought at Dollar Tree a few years back. Dollar tree didn't have them this year. They had plenty of New Mexico Chiles.

It's probably too late to start peppers this year but I did see Hot Banana peppers at Home Depot, Berton seeds.

Hot Banana usually refers to Hungarian Wax, unless they mix up the seeds.

West coast seeds in BC also has them, listed as Hungarian hot wax.

The shipping is probably not great unless you buy other things and they could combine shipping.

I have one plant from my very poor germination. If it grows and manages to mature i can try get some seeds, but I do have plenty of other peppers so it will probably end up cross pollinated.

I was never able to get any of my peppers to mature to red stage to get the seeds, other than Bulgarian carrot and long red cayenne.

Thanks for your reply, Anna, but luckily, I took a trip to Lee Valley and they had them, both the hot and the sweet. I have been growing peppers for many years and it's not too late for these. I pre-sprout them and grow them under lights in my basement so they should be O.K. I hope I can continue to save them as I usually do.

Glad you found a source! Just in case anyone is wondering, Solana Seeds have them (HHW) and they're in Repentigny, Québec, so not as far as West Coast Seeds for us Easterners. I've ordered from both suppliers and have been satisfied so far. No affiliation, just plugging good companies! :)

Isgen, thanks for the Solana tip. They seem to have lots of interesting varieties in peppers and tomatoes.

I wish I had more room in my garden and could grow things all year long.
