I had one I almost lost because I didn't realize it wasn't getting irrigated this winter. I potted it up and now it's doing much better. Had me scared for a while. It has only a few small figs on it now, but not as many as usual. So far no good spring crop. :-(

I don't know why, but me and fig trees don't get along. I have one that's probably 7 years old and I get maybe one or two figs off of it a year and it's only about 3 feet tall. Brown Turkey. I even tried to take a cutting and start a new one and that didn't do anything. And I love fresh figs.

My fig just started to leaf out two weeks ago and I got my first tiny figs just starting.

I think figs need more water than most people think. Also I try to add some organics each year and keep it mulched.

I don't seem to be getting as many figs as normal. not sure why. everything seems OK with my fig tree.

I planted two Violette de Bordeux into plain sandy soil without amendment last year. Adding to my inexperience, I just cut the bottom of the pots off because I have irrigation pipe next to the hole and I didnt want the root to go round the pipe. I got about 50 figs from them (I got lucky !). Two months ago I dug them up because the they were in too much shade. Of course the were rootbound! I noticed some root knots on the root as well. Anyway, I was (and am still) too lazy, so I just pot them up again into same sized pot and keep them watered well. After about three weeks , i noticed some fruits forming on one of them , last count is 13 figlets. they are about the nickel sized now. I dug a good size hole and filled it up with half composted oak leaves , shredded paper and garden soil. looks happier now...The other one is not fruiting because I trim the trunk off to 3 feet tall. I think figs are tough, but they do seem to need more water than what people say.

Figs are tough BUT for them to do their best and for most production you will have to give them MORE.

My little fig is getting it's game on and is mass producing figs after a slow start.

Despite my constant watering my 2 figs are not doing well. They dropped most of their leaves the last 26F night and never recovered. They have only a few new leaves. They should be bushing out by now.

Sorry about your figs GT. They can be frustrating that is for sure but when you get a few figs to eat it all seems worth it. ;-)
