Well I'm wondering if it is characteristic of this rose for live canes to look dead. Does that mean there is something wrong with it or is that normal, it's the only Centifola I grow. The whole thing looks dead until you look closely at it. Maybe I'm paying too much attention to it.

Gray is certainly an acceptable color for rose canes. The only hybrid centifolia I grow, Juno, certainly has gray canes. It also leafs out on the late side, but that is just the way it is.

Large roses often drape naturally, so you don't need to peg or secure them horizontally. They do it themselves.

I know but I have to train this one because of the ramblers around it, it looks like a jungle..
