You can have new doors made for the existing cabinet boxes that will match the style of the picture you posted.

Your existing cabinets have a face frame, the wood behind and around the doors and drawers, so while you can change the doors and drawer fronts to look more like your picture, it won't be exact, as the European cup hinges won't do a full overlay door on a face frame (assuming you don't want to see hinges). Full overlay means all you see are door and drawer fronts. Browse kitchens here on Houzz and create ideabooks if you haven't already. If you do install new doors and drawer fronts on the cabinets I recommend painting as stripping the existing face frame and staining the two surfaces, new and old, too match will be tough. I recommend hiring a designer for at least a consultation to help with island design, lighting and paint colors for walls and cabinets. Best of luck!

Nope - your profile of your cabinets is an arched profile - your dream kitchen is a shaker profile.
You'd have to strip off that profile and re-apply. Not an easy task if for a DIY'er.

Painting cabinets is a long, tedious, arduous procedure - with the result, being at best - 5 more years of life from the cabinets - IF you've done all your preparation of the wood properly to even received the paint.

My advice - live with this kitchen until you can gut it and get your dream kitchen for real - don't paint the cabinets, give them a really good cleaning, replace the backsplash and countertop with a laminate and then in 5 years time - gut it and have all new! Good luck,

Yeah, that little decorative arch feature on the doors does date them. You might not notice it as much if they were painted but replacing the doors would really fix the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll have to decide what we want to do with the cabinet fronts. I just have a hard time getting rid of something that is still in good condition - even though rather dated. And of course the whole money factor...
