Last year in mid summer I bought a Brother Stefan at a nursery
far away. It was a 2.5 liter pot, but not very full. I don’t recall how many eyes
it had when I bought it. It would have been 2 at the most. Probably one. It was
pretty expensive, but this nursery has an amazing selection. The owner is a
hosta enthusiast.

This is to replace the reverted Paul’s Glory in full bright shade
that shows virtually no color now even on its non-reverted leaves. I posted on this
last year, looking for a replacement that shows some gold even in shade. I have
some others in the same bed that show gold, but they are much shorter
varieties. I needed something of comparable height, and this was on the short
list of those recommended to me.

It got too late last year to get the Paul’s Glory out, so Brother
Stefan was planted in my vegetable/holding bed. It (I am so tempted to say “he”
like I find myself automatically saying “she” for the ones with women’s names).
has only one eye showing.

We had a good rain and I will move hostas today. Paul’s Glory
needs to get out and separated before he (er, it) gets bigger.

Would you move a one-eye $$ hosta to a new location, or wait
til it grew up a bit?
