Sorry Paula...

Paula, I hate to pull out after saying we will be at the Fling, but we are going to miss it this year. I think I have attended for 8 or 9 years now and I really hate to miss seeing my friends. I will have only a few plants in my garden this year, and actually I am glad that I haven't planted a big garden this time. We have had much, much more rain this year than the totals showing on the Mesonet. We are on a ridge above the water, so as long as the rain falls at a reasonable rate, it will drain off to the lake. While we are not in danger of flooding, we do have a drainage problem and have already had wet carpet in one room from all of the rainfall. I poured over an inch and a half out of the rain guage again this morning and they are saying that NE Oklahoma could get another 4-12 inches with this storm.

We have made the decision not to leave town this weekend, as we just don't have a desire to drive through all of this to get there. I hope it is a beautiful day in your part of Oklahoma. Have fun!

Carol, We will miss you and Al so much but it is so much more important to us that y'all be safe and not traveling the roadways with all that heavy rainfall you're expecting there. I hope we'll see you next year.....and I hope we won't turn on the news and see y'all sitting on top of your roof as water rises around you. I'm so glad y'all are up on a ridge!

Carol - you and Al will be missed but I can totally understand!!! I suspect - because of weather that this may be the smallest and shortest in the Flings history!! You've always been so dedicated to attend that you deserve a year off! My gosh....remember the year of criss-crossing the state?! I won't get my "Al-fix" but give him a hug for me and save one for you too! Stay safe!

Carol and Al must be going to get their rain and our rain too. Despite a forecast of rain beginning in the evening, and graphics that showed it starting up here between 7 and 10 pm, absolutely nothing has happened. No rain, no sprinkles, no mist, no thunder, no lightning, no hail, no wind. Nothing, nothing, nothing.

I am not complaining.

However.....

Y'all know that the rain is just holding back and saving itself for tomorrow morning where it probably will be raining all along I-35 as we swim our way upstream to Paula's and Ken's. That's Oklahoma weather for you.

It can rain all it wishes at our house tomorrow because we won't be here. Ha ha ha.

Oh, Carol, I was afraid of that! I was just setting up to start cutting all the veggies for the salad and I thought I should check to make sure a., we were still HAVING the Fling, and b, whether you and Al would be there. I'm sad. But I think you are making a wise decision, unless you wanted to stay with us for a week or so :)
