Where to start with this Wisteria

I recently bought a piece of property that had been abandoned for 10 plus years. There is not much to save as far as plants and shrubs go, but there is a Wisteria vine. The wisteria is intermingled with a couple of privets, a lot of the vine is on the ground right now. Some of the vine is entangled in a small collapsed metal arbor type structure. There are small buds on many of the shoots, but no leaves at this point. I don't know if it actually blooms, I didn't see it last spring or summer. I'm not sure how to proceed to get it healthy. I think I need to get rid of the privets so I can get a look at just the wisteria. Then what? Should it be pruned? What kind of structure should I put up for it to climb? I'm eventually building a house on the property but I don't want to spend a lot on a structure now. I want to put up something temporary just to see if it will grow. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Alright,trying again.

You can prune the privets as hard as you want to get them out of your way - google "renovating overgrown privet" for how to do it.

You may have more than one wisteria plant, after 10 years - they can root along the length of the "branches". You're going to have to prune out the dead wood, at least, and get it within manageable size; you can't kill these things, so don't worry.

A mature wisteria needs an almost-huge trellis or arbor; if you're not doing anything permanent at this point, you could get away with a small metal or wood one from Home Depot/Lowes for a very little while.

Can you tell us where you are - zone, state - any maybe give us a picture of the area in question?

Thanks for your response! I'm on Long Island in NY. I don't have a picture right now, but I'll take one next time I'm there. I do think there may be more than one wisteria plant, although it's such a tangled mess it's hard to be sure. Good to know they're hard to kill. I'll post again on my progress and try to include pics.
