Is there such a thing as too many Kelvins?

Hi

I need to replace my florescent lighting as my seedlings are not doing well. It was recommended to me that I should get a tube with 4500 K or higher. At the store there was a bulb that was 5000 k and was labeled 'sunshine', Then there was a bulb with 6500 k that was labeled 'daylight'. I, on the theory that bigger is better, purchased the 'daylight' bulb. Did I make a mistake?

Here is one opinion: The Best Kelvin Rating for Plant Growth? - The Planted Tank Forum - Anything in the 5000-10,000K range should work fine for plants. It's mostly a matter of personal preference.

And here is another: 3,000 Kelvin versus 6,500 Kelvin bulbs | T5 grow light fixtures - To summarize, 6,500 Kelvin bulbs are the perfect bulbs for plants that are growing and vegetating, but once they go into their flowering stages, to get a bigger yield you need to switch to 3,000 Kelvin bulbs that have the ideal light for flowering plants.

Agree with Albert the Daylight bulbs are fine to use. Some will mix the two bulbs - Sunshine and Daylight) in the same fixture to get a little different spectrum.

Di the bulbs have to be T5? My fixture requires the T12 size.
