Value is what someone will pay.......they won't pay $165, although the Hummel site wishes they would.

Value guide was probably written by a dealer who dealt in Hummels. Just like the Royal Doulton figurines book was written by a dealer who dealt only in Doulton. Wishful thinking & possibly at one time true, but times have changed.

Thank you! I thought the older things get (in good condition), the more they are valued. I guess not always the case. Should give then another 50 years to get more money value. ;)

It's availability that affects price. Some of the older pieces were made in small editions...
