One tough clem -- aka cool roots? Nah!

I live on 6 acres of land. I moved here 9 years ago. When I
moved here, I dumped a large number of pots -- some planted, some not --
on a sunny graveled area that used to be a parking area that I didn't
have a use for. I pretty much forgot about them after a year or two.

Fast forward to this spring. I needed a bunch of pots, so I raided my
dry, sunny pot ghetto. And while I was looking around, I found a large
and apparently healthy clem in a two or three gallon pot. Growing in
full sun. On top of solid gravel. With no watering whatsoever in the
last several years.

Being a mostly but not completely awful person, I yanked (not dug)
this pot up out of the gravel (yes, some roots had grown out the
drainage holes and through the gravel into the dirt beneath). I carried
it over to an area of dappled shade up against a fence, pulled it out of
its old pot, and dropped it into a whiskey-barrel planter -- which I
still haven't filled with dirt, even though this is several weeks later.

And this is what I found today:

(You can see the mostly-empty barrel in the background of the first pic.)

Keep in mind that this is just a few weeks after being violently
yanked off a dry gravel parking hell. I laugh upon people who say that
clems are finicky or temperamental. LOL.

(Incidentally, there was no label with this, but I strongly suspect
that it's Polish Spirit. If anyone wants a clem that's impossible to
kill, look no further.)
