EK Solnechnyi Malchik - Sunny Boy

This is an interesting Urkrainian hybrid I've wanted for a while. In warm conditions it blooms purple - with apparently greenish edges and pink fantasy! What a nice surprise! But in chilly conditions (winter or grown in a very cool basement) it is supposed to be fully double YELLOW blooms edged with hints of purple crinkled edges. So one of the most dramatically changeable AV's out there.

Here is the very first flower starting to open on mine. As the flower ages it should get larger and more filly-full so we'll see. It's still a rather young plant grown from a leaf so I expect later bloom cycles to be more impressive. So far I'm still liking it!

This second photo is NOT mine but is an example of what the flower /can/ do when grown pretty cool.

Stunning hybrid, yes? There seems to also be variations on the Anglo version of the spelling so hopefully there don't turn out to be two similarly named plants that are confused. Time will tell.
