My first thought is to place the TV on the large wall and swivel the couch to face it, even though that might somewhat inhibit conversation between the chef and everyone in the living room. However, I suspect the TV would not already be mounted if that weren't where it is to stay.

In that case, consider pulling the couch further to the right, to leave space along the large wall for some kind of storage/display furniture. Certainly you need art there too, and I would also say you need a vertical piece to the right of the fireplace. Big rug, and I think a strong pattern would be good, keeping to your neutrals so that you can go crazy on the art for colour. I agree with Elaine; add a big rectangular coffee table. And a plant to take advantage of the window light in the corner.

You need an accent color(blue, green, orange, yellow). When you decide, purchase a chair in this color, along with artwork and pillows.

Try a lovely rug with some colors in it, a coffee table, mirror/artwork on the wall, pillows to go with the rug, and a plant in the corner by the window. We added a design from our portfolio with some colors that might work with your current L shaped couch.

To me the obvious is .... I would put the couch into the center of the room and have it face that big blank wall. Put up a wall unit there, or a long console type piece, and put the TV on that. Then you need a large area rug under it and a coffee table.
