X Post: DO NOT delete duplicate posts that are appearing...

If you delete *one* of the duplicates that appear when you post a
comment, *both* copies will disappear. Up until now, one of the copies
has just gone away after a short time. However, I'm now seeing duplicate
posts that were posted well over an hour ago, so things may be getting
worse.

Jackie is even having problems *reporting*
the problem. You'd think by now someone at Houzz would have caught on.
Does no one who works there actually post on the forums???

Tamara used to visit us fairly regularly, but I haven't seen her in a long time.

Has this happened to anyone today (10 May)?

I did send an e-mail yesterday, and perhaps others did also. If it were a problem with every post, I'd say it was fixed, but since I only had the "evil twin post" problem a few times, I don't know if it is gone or still lurking in the shadows....

Virginia, I haven't made a new post since this one, so I can't say if the problem still exists. Hopefully Houzz has addressed the issue. It was VERY aggravating, especially before we learned not to delete either of the duplicates that were appearing. Some of us lost some pretty long-winded posts, lol.

OK...it's still happening. I just saw where PattyW posted over on the Roses forum about her 2qt Austins arriving, and it double posted, then one disappeared. Grrrrrrrr.

And it JUST happened to me. Grrrrrrrrr, too.

Maybe this is the place to ask this question, I don't know. I'm not sure if this is Houzz related, or my phone or internet connection. I am terrible with this sort of thing.

Here's what's been happening. It has been going on about as long as this double post thing on Houzz. When I use my iPhone to post anything to Houzz, I have to sign into my account again, if I have not used Garden Web via my iPhone in the past hour or so. I do not have this issue with my laptop and I do chose the option to remain signed in. I didn't used to have to sign in on my phone every time I went to post here. It happened once or twice before, but now I have to enter my email and password every time I've been off the forum for an hour or longer. Its a bit annoying, and sometimes discourages me from taking and posting a quick picture while in the midst of something. Does anyone know if this is likely a Houzz thing or my issue over here? Thanks, Lisa

I don't know which it is, Lisa, but I hope you can get it sorted out if it stops you from posting as often as you'd like.

I don't have to sign into GW on my computer (I don't use a 'device'), but if I go out into the wider world of Houzz, I do have to sign in. Not sure how the entities are coordinated (or uncoordinated).

I just posted a HT/Tea ID question. So far, so good. Only one post, and it's still there as of 5 minutes after posting. Carol

Something weird just happened... I posted a thread to the Antiques Roses Forum only, titled What have you done in your rose gardens today?... when I checked I found that as usual it had duplicated itself, so I left them both up and disappeared for a couple of minutes to the Roses forum, where lo and behold my thread had appeared there too, but I hadn't posted it there.. so now I had 3 threads up all the same... so I went away for a couple more minutes and when I returned, all 3 threads were gone... so I disappeared again for a few minutes and on returning, my thread had suddenly appeared back where I posted it, on here, with no duplicates...

    Gremlins..

I should add, it only seems to happen when you start a new thread, I don't get a problem just posting to someone else's thread..

Gremlins indeed! Now I know where my lost socks and cars keys have gone. They're being stockpiled at the Houzz site. Carol

lol...Portlandmysteryrose, that's as good a place as any for them to be. I'm still amazed how socks go IN the washer as pairs, but come OUT of the dryer as singles...

It's not a bit more mysterious than Houzz not fixing this, though, lol.

Marlorena, I've had the cross-forum posting happen to me too. If you just know what NOT to do, it fixes itself. But what about new posters who give up in frustration when they can't get their post to appear because they keep deleting duplicates, unaware that they're erasing the original as well? I can see us losing many potential new friends over this...
