Cattleya intermedia var orlata

I divided a large version of this plant 2 years ago. This one is potted and I mounted another. It gets the exact exposure. They live 2 feet apart. The potted one has done better in every category. The flower, p bulbs, and leaves are bigger in the pot. The mounted grows sequentially behind in time as the gap is widening. The mounted has 3 flowers coming but it is several days behind. Still the mounted on its own looks like a good, healthy catt. Especially when not compared to the potted.
It appears to me that this particular plant prefers potted. With different plants it can go either way. Now I know to pot intermedia. This is subject vary due to potting methods...
I traded a few of these 2 years ago to members of this forum. Any flowers yet?
