Good morning...

I'm in northern NJ... zone 6a/6b

I am working an area in my yard with Northern (very exposed) and western exposure. Shadey area until mid-afternoon - then it can get bright and hot. There is a sprinkler system that will hit the area

The soil is very good... drains well, on a slight slope, ph of 6.5 or so with loads of organic matter

i want to place smaller azaleas or rhodos in the area with differing bloom times so that the area will be colorful for as long as possible..

The area isn't huge... probably 12' X 15'.

I'm not married to any color scheme but prefer red, white, purple, pink. I'd rather they lend themselves to staying on the smaller side... maybe 4 foot height (can varieties that grow larger be kept trimmed small?)

This may or may not matter: One edge of the area boarders the driveway... maybe 4' away. Will snow removal with a snow blower throwing snow with salt or ice melt into the area cause problems? Actually, the entire area would/could be subject to this. I clean up after snow plow clears the road and this stuff, too, would be thrown onto the area. God only knows what the town throws down.

I can't think of anything more to add

I'm getting lost trying to decipher which plants blooms when. Given the sun, preferred color, varying bloom time, size and possible "pollution" exposure, can I get some ideas on what might work best?
