Where are you located? This iris relative is not fully hardy below zone 9 so best grown in a container in colder zones and given suitable storage in winter.

It is not really a bulb at all and is considered a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial. In other words, you would not store the bare rhizomes as you would a true bulb but as a planted start like Siberian iris or daylilies. You will want to keep the container above freezing but quite cool - 35-45F. Accessing light in winter is not necessary

i live in a climate area where -35 in winter is common.

Brandon - I believe the temperature was +35 - +45 F. Pots can't handle subzero temps as the entire pot freezes all the way through unlike the ground which develops a crust of frozen ground on top but stays unfrozen underneath.
