Hate my Tempur-Pedic. What to try next??

We paid $9,000 for a king-sized Tempur-Pedic bed with dual mechanisms for raising and lowering tops and bottoms of the single mattress. The mechanisms stopped working soon after buying; the big-box store said they weren't responsible and calls to TP resulted in a TV technician coming by! It still doesn't work, and we can't stand being "paralyzed" into one sleeping position. I have neck and back problems. I read bad reviews of some of the more familiar mattress brands. Anyone have suggestions for a great mattress, no matter the cost??

Assuming that there is a warranty on this bed, call and escalate the complaint to management level - explain (calmly) that the previous service call didn't resolve the problem and that you expect that it will be resolved with this service call. How long have you had the bed? I'm not sure which one you have - but they appear to have full warranties on the first 3 years of the adjustable bed frames.

Check out themattressunderground.com. Written by a mattress geek who is just really into it. You will learn SO much. And he sometimes recommends stores in specific cities.

The mattress sounds fine but the mechanism does not. Call the company that built the electric mechanism and have it repaired. It must have a one year warranty, pretty standard....and for my money Stearns & Foster is a wonderful bed......but ViSpring is the ultimate in mattress construction...pricy but I hear well worth it.

Do some research on the mechanism and call them not the mattress store. When I look on intrnet at Temperpedic it says ten year limited warranty; do some calling and complaining and do it nicely and thoroughly and do not give up. Also have the company you bought it from give you a copy of the sales receipts for your records and for your paper trail....

Mattress preferences are very personal. We have a Sleep Number & hate it. We both prefer a firmer mattres & even if we turn the remote up to 100 it still doesn't work for us , & their customer service is worthless imo.

We did everything just right - turned the mattress every week, broke it in and after 18 months we had back pain from the mattress because the memory foam breaks down with use. We called customer support, went through the claim process, had the receipt, explained our situation to a number of individuals and were told "we [Tempurpedic] can't be responsible for your comfort needs."
