TECHNICAL HELP FOR NEWBIES

PLEASE GO TO YOUR EDIT PROFILE PAGE AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS LISTED CORRECTLY.

Then go to ADVANCED SETTINGS (<<--click here)

(located under “Account”on the left side of the “edit profile” page or at-

https://www.houzz.com/settingsAdvanced )

Scroll down to "Privacy settings"

and select the option of “ALLOW ANYONE TO MESSAGE ME” under "Who can message me".

To add your growing zone:

Go to ADVANCED SETTINGS

Look for - Climate Zone for Garden Forums - and fill in your zone.

To make/edit your wants/have list:

Go to ADVANCED SETTINGS

-Then click on the box under “My GardenWeb Trading List”

-Type/paste in your seeds in a vertical list

(much easier to read than a horizontal list with commas between).

To access these settings:

if you are currently logged in, click on your name anywhere on the site, or the “Your Houzz” button at the top right of any page.

Then go to ===> Edit Profile ===> Advanced Settings (located under “Account”on the left)

also, this page can be accessed by going directly to the web address -https://www.houzz.com/settingsAdvanced

this is the page where you can edit your preferences, allow people to email you, list your growing zone, and fill in your have/ want lists.

For mother's day I made my wife a raised garden bed. She's going to do the vegetables and I'm in charge of the flowers. I've already learned a ton from reading these forums.

Hello! Thank you so much for putting this together. My name is Nick Greinert, and I live in Round Rock, Texas (basically North Austin). I started a garden in my parents backyard to try and be more self sufficient and provide for them and my finance. Vegetables would be much appreciated; also any herb or flower would not go to waste! God bless! Edit: My garden consists of an upper deck with plenty of room for pots, and a big backyard with a recently constructed raised garden bed that is 6' wide by 11' long. There's also a lot of space that I could use out front because my parents constructed a front garden when I was little, and it has fallen to disuse.

I received my seeds. Thank you very much! My 4 yr old son was walking around for 30 minutes saying "I'm going to plant some seed!"

I was on Gardenweb for several years up until they joined with Houzz. Very difficult to maneuver around the site, I eventually gave up. People are so friendly and generous as I was, and loved the Secret Santa Swap. That was the best!! Forward ahead, I lost all my flower and veggie seeds when my basement flooded, so I am in hopes I can start again with help from here with some flower seeds. I will always pay it forward!

Tonya, glad you made it back to GW. I think Houzz's format is just a change. Everything new takes some getting used to,but if you stick around and get used to it, I think you'll find a bunch of friendly people, some of whom stuck around after the transition, and others who are newer. The Santa Swap is still on going!
