I was just quoted $320 for Showergard two walls, 3x5 shower. One full 6' and other 3'. Your quote seems very high. I'm even hesitating spending $320 when the doors and panel are $$$

Holy cow!!! $1000!!!??? That's crazy high!!! My whole remodel went over budget so I had to skip heated floors and shower guard. It is a PAIN using the squeegee every day but I'm used to it now and it's part of my daily routine.

Get another quote. Your salesman probably works on commission.

I did get a 3rd bid, and the "extras" came in at half the cost. I decided not to opt for shower guard, however I did get the enduroshield, which was only a couple hundred. That comes with a ten year warranty, whatever that's good for. I am resigned to the fact that I'll need to squeegee. We'll see...

Showerguard would not exempt you from squeegee'ing. Glass is pourous, hard water and soap WILL be absorbed into the pores of the glass. The Showerguard coating seals the glass so the glass surface will not absord the contaments into the pores. Showerguard is actually made with the glass, it is not applied. Products like Enduroshield despite what they or nayone will tell you is an aftermarket surface applied topical treatment that is touted to do the same but does not. The aftermarket applied products work slightly for a short period of time. Period. Stop.

Is showerguard something that can be bought after the house is built? Or is it an option that the builder must offer?

It's built into the glass. Enduros how're is applied topically.
