It looks like a rooted cutting, depending on the age of the tree that the cutting was taken from it could flower/fruit in the next 1-10 years. 10 being the extreme if it was from a young seed grown tree. If its a seed grown tree it will take 10+ years to be mature enough to fruit. FWIW I think its likely a cutting and it should flower for you next year with proper care and fertilizer. I wouldn't let it carry lemons until its much larger though, maybe 2-3 years depending on how fast it grows. I think there is a certain number of leaves a tree needs per fruit to successfully grow it something like 25 leaves are needed to have enough energy for 1 fruit but don't quote me on the amount. I don't think the tree is a dud I just think it will take you a few years of TLC before it is ready to start giving you fruit.

Meyer lemons are not done from seed. No graft means rooted cutting. Your cutting was taken from a mature tree and will flower when it has the strength to. It would be too time consuming to take cutting from a small immature Meyer tree. your tree looks much better than most store trees. Good catch.

Wow Amanda, I didn't realize it would grow that much in a year. I assumed it would double in size per year not quadrupedal, with how little growth my trees put on I though that there way no way one could grow that fast. I am going to have to start giving them a stern talking to.

Yeah it's even bigger now! I had it in bad mix and just repotted it today so hopefully it recovers and blooms. It's a big heavy bush now haha. It's just hard starting off so small but they really do grow fast.

I rooted a few small meyers about that size last year, theyre growing well and should put on some nice size this summer. Citrus can grow very fast in the right conditions. Check out my key lime from seed, just one year apart:

I agree that it is a rooted cutting, which is perfectly fine. I have rooted cuttings that have produced lots of fruit within a year. Let it grow up and you will be happy. This tree I bought about five years ago as a small rooted cutting (it was quite pathetic looking)...it has produced lots of limes and is over 6' tall in the pot!

Are Meyers also sold grafted? The citrus I usually buy here are grafted and much larger and cost only about $10. I've seen Eureka, Lisbon, Lemon Lemonade, and even Sicilian lemon trees here, but never Meyer which surprised me as everyone told me it was the most cold hardy, which is why I wanted to try it. This is tiny and cost me 20 bucks.

I just happened to buy a Yuzu tree at the same time, this one was in bad condition so it' was half price for five dollars, but you can see the shocking size difference. The main thing is the roots are well-established so the tree will really be a fast producer.
