Maybe earwigs; the only come out a night and hide under leaves during the day.

Thanks John. I check the trees everyday and don't see anything on top or under the leaves. I look for grasshoppers, caterpillars, whiteflies, aphids etc and never find a thing.

I shower them with a jet spray and never see anything fly, jump or hop off. It's frustrating not knowing how to treat them.

i cut off all damaged leaves. I'll continue spraying, maybe 3 times a day and see if that will keep them away.

I think it is something that comes out to munch at night. Don't take off the munched leaves as they still have enough life in them yet to provide photosynthesis to feed the tree. Those leaves may not look so pretty but they are still working. They will help the tree make new replacement leaves and the tree will discard the munched ones itself when they are no longer needed. Spray regularly with alternating neem oil and soap sprays to make sure whatever is chewing on it does not leave behind any eggs or babies. Do not spray when the temperature is above 85°F or you will cause the sun to burn the leaves. Late evening or very early in the morning is best.
