Many painted cabinets, even high end ones are made of MDF or MDF and wood combined - often with a wood center panel in the door. Wood moves with changes in temp which cracks the paint in hairline cracks at the joints. MDF is more stable to changes in temperature changes, so resist these hairline cracks and also paints up very well.

The con of MDF is that unpainted MDF is subject to swelling from water and humidity. If it is well painted / sealed this is less of a problem. You should touch up any scratches that may occur over the years to help prevent this.

I can't say about quality as I've never had factory painted cabinets. I am interested in seeing how these cabinets hold up over long periods of time (15 to 20 years) as opposed to stained cabinets.

My neighbor recently had new cabinets installed - stained cherry. She insisted the sink base cabinet be made of plywood rather than MDF. However, my sink base cabinet is MDF box with wood frame and doors, and the box has held up fine for 20 years.
