When to unpot these Rhodies?

Hi All,

I'm in SE Michigan. I cloned these from a mature plant - I had posted here for advice about doing that, thanks to all who contributed! That was a few years ago, and somehow the rhodies have survived my brown thumb, even though I almost killed them and stunted their growth by packing them too tightly in poor soil.

This is the first year they've really shown some life - I took this pic about a week ago and they've grown a lot since then, the largest is a foot tall now! These plants are all growing out of the same root clump.

I hope to eventually plant them right where they are. The exposure is southern but they are shaded during the summer and should get a couple of hours of on/off direct sun in the mornings. The wall on the left provides good protection from the west wind. They tray they are in is 6-8" deep.

Is it safe to unpot them at this point? Should I wait for a certain time of year? I have no idea what I'm doing and have only gotten this far thanks to the contributions from this group. Any advice about when or how to transition them from the pot would be appreciated.
