Tomatoes peppers and thrip

So much to my frustration along with my seedlings I evidently started a crop of thrip... I have been looking out for them for awhile unsuccessfully because of some minor leaf damage. My seedling are finally outside but not planted yet. And I now I am seeing the lil buggers. I would like to knock them back before planting. What if anything do you find effective on thrip? I am more familiar with them in a greenhouse setting - and am aware they are difficult to control. I am hoping for some level of control not complete victory. Help!
