does this pillow work?

Found this green geometric pillow, not sure about it. Seagrass rug on order, will arrive this week! Yay!

There is a small amount of green in the print fabric, sort of olive-ish.

Any other pillow suggestions very welcome.

thanks

Here it is in the room with the old rug. Also scored some new lamps.

Nice lamps! The pillow looks okay, but I would prefer larger and fuller.

I like that you switched the chairs and decided on the sea grass rug. Nice room!

I do like the idea of a bold geometric pattern but I'd hunt for more correlation with the chair fabric.

Thanks. I feel like I need some sort of accent color, besides the blue and white/cream.

I love your room. I would probably do 2 large "statement" pillows. Here's some ideas from a fabulous etsy dealer:

i like the navy ones on the ends. i feel u need a darker color since everything else is medium to light in tone. the 2nd one in k9arlene is nice too. i love green with navy. go with darker tones. anything light just gets washed out.

    i think either lamp works.

I like the darker pillows with the white lamps. Proportionally the lamps work better on the table and the light color balances the blue. Looks nice!

As much as I like the blue lamps, I think you're right, they're too bulky for the tables. Too bad, they're Drexel, found them at HG.

    Hi Saypoint --

Why pillows are such a pain, I don't know -- but they are!

First, I want to just take a step back to admire how you've gotten to your goal: a room that feels light and airy.

You've achieved this with a great blend of muted colors, and I think that's the path to stay on (though temptation abounds for that "pop")!

At least on my monitor, the deeper blue pillows are off in tone with the sofa (a bit too bright). So I'd nix them.

And while I think a deep muted shade (a more midnight shade of blue, currant, coffee) will look beautiful in the room, I'd save that for cooler months when you want to cozy things up a bit.

    To celebrate summer, I'd:

    • stick to light or medium muted tones
    • look closely at how a "hard" geometric works with what you have; to me patterns like the green zigzags fight the soft organic shapes you have throughout
    • keep an eye out for summery textures (linen, cotton duck) and light-reflecting ones (raw silk, metallic threads)

I'm not saying it's necessarily the way to go, but I like the shell pillow with the vibe you have -- fun, colors work, organic rounded shapes in pattern work.

Way upthread (Friday 7:50) with Green Zigzag you show a wideshot with a solid pillow in a pale taupe-y color. I love the way that brings out the matting on your gallery wall and your slipcovers. Sure, it's a bit sedate on its own but calm is what you want in here, right? I'd just layer another pillow with a bit more oomph on top and call it good.

Blush remains on-trend and thus fairly easy to find. Perhaps a solid or pattern that includes it?

Here it is with some other colors that are -- or would work -- in your room...coastal theme a happy accident. ;)

The dark blue looks good with the sofa, but within the context of the chairs and rug all together, I'm not sure that going dark is going to give the room a cohesive look as everything at eye level is more pastel.

The seagrass rug came and I didn't like the quality so it's going back. Here's the room with a cream tone on tone rug. Still have to find pillows.

k9arlene, I really like these, especially the third one. would you use two of one and one of another? Or find a solid to work with the floral?

You already have a lot of symmetry going on with the chairs and lamps. I'd be inclined to have 2 different pillows. I do like the last one and I'm not sure that either of the other two works with it. I'm thinking a solid for the second one. Wish someone else would check in. I'm not the best at putting together prints.

Saypoint, if you do the last of the 3 pillows (which I think all are great choices!) then I would pull out a beige/gold color from the pillow and find a solid/textured pillow in that color. I would definitely do 4 pillows on the sofa (two of pattern, two of solid) and maybe a solid/textured blue pillow on the chairs.
