Hey all, I planted a heptacodium miconioides in the back yard very early summer. It had some leaves die back a bit that year (possibly due to a late frost). This year it has struggled and I believe it is dying. The leaves started to bud and now are turning black. It was planted in a lower area of the back yard and we've had a LOT of rain so I don't know if that combined with clay soil is the issue? It was a very mild winter and it seemed to come out of it okay. Zone is 4b, Iowa. Any ideas...?
