What a great looking trellis.

Do you have the names of your beautiful clematises (boy that doesn't look right)?

Very nice. Good trellis find.

My clematis are slow this year and several have yellowing leaves. Perhaps too cool and wet. Or maybe I have gotten used to the early springs we have had the last five years.

The names of the clematis as I remember it. Clematis Carnaby, Clematis Violet Charm, Clematis Henry, Clematis Nelly Moser and the last one on the trellis is Clematis Etiolle Violet.

Hmm. Are you sure of your ID on that lavender one? I looked up Violet Charm, and it has red stamens -- but your pic shows yellow stamens. I think yours really is HF Young. :-)

Love that trellis find ! I've had some great luck finding garden ornaments and trellis for great prices on used sites . Even estate sales! Some people don't know how much that stuff costs and stick a 5$ tag on it but it's worth so much more !

The dove chicks left the nest. The first egg was laid on April 14th. The eggs hatched on May 1st. The chicks left on May 15th. I still see the mom & pop doves around. May be planning another brood. I wish raising my own children was this easy! LOL.

aluvaboy -- I think your pink clem may be Pink Champagne/Kakio instead. Kakio and Asao are closely related (IIRC they're seedlings from the same cross) and they're very similar, so it could be either, but I'm leaning toward Kakio for yours.

Thankyou for doing the research. What baffles me is that the same plant have lighter colored flowers as well. I took the picture of the single flower that was the brightest in color.

Yup. Clematis photos can be incredibly frustrating.

I've owned both Asao and Kakio, but it's been years (and a different residence) since I had a Kakio. They are very similar, and it's possible that yours is Asao after all. So don't take my opinion on this as gospel -- it's just an opinion! ;-)

I had Asao once and the blooms faded badly over time...

How old Are your clematis ?! Mine just got planted in early May and I only had a few blooms

Lydia, I always plan for it to take about 3years from a small (quart sized) plant to really have significant bloom and size on the plant. It has to grow roots and get large enough and have enough roots to support a large blooming plant.

My clematis are all in their 3rd year. The saying goes: 1st year they sleep, 2nd year they creep and 3rd year they leap!

I buy all my clematis in 1 gallon container (smallest size?) at the local Canadian Tires for about $5 each. The first year I was only getting 1-3 flowers (if any). The 2nd year I was getting a few more. Now in their 3rd year...the whole trellis is covered with flowers...more than I could possibly count!

People usually buy a clematis in its 2nd year to avoid all the waiting...but these are usually about $15-20.

Be patient and it will pay off!

Etiolle Violet clematis on my new Craiglist trellis! This is the first year. I planted this in the fall of 2016. Looking exactly the way I wanted it. Contrasting well with the color of my vinyl siding.Sweet Summer love in bloom. I had it mail ordered from Burpees. This is its 2nd year. Last year blooms were sparse. It is loaded with blooms and buds this year.

Surprise visitors to my backyard!. The doe has twin fawns. I am excited because I am one of a twin. I am married to one of a twin as well!

I have to find some room in my already crowded garden for a "Tie Dye". It is awesome! How old is your Tie Dye?

Glad you snagged one 'Babs'. TD isn't one of the usual clems one sees stocked. It is so floriferous....an important member of our garden this time of year.

Rouge, most of my clems bloom in the summer, so I am not lacking blooms, but I love the unusual and random color pattern on Tie Dye's flowers.

It really is an apropos name for this clematis.

Two new ones that have bloomed for me so far- Giselle and Gillian Blades. I'm especially impressed with Giselle. Heat tolerant and steady blooms.

To be honest starlight99 I dont know for sure where one would be best to go these days to obtain "Tie Dye".

Thanks Rouge. I will keep my eyes out for Tie Dye. I know Canadian Tires usually has a variety of different 1 quart size clematis varieties. Hopefully I will be able to find one next spring.

I just got 1 Gillian Blades as well. Mine was in a 1 quart container with one tiny stem and no blooms. I will have to wait until next spring to see a few blooms...so thanks for the photo!

Lovely! Jolly Good is just darling and your Pillu really took off, Lilyfinch! M. Hunt started off well, but then was kind of blah, so I cut it down and it's starting over again. I was really hesitant to do it at first, but now, if the top stops growing and/or the bottom looks sad, I cut them down-it's exciting to see healthy new sprouts in a few weeks.
