Earwigs, Japanese beetles, rose chafers. I don't have problems with earwigs, and the last two are a bit later in the season for me, but you are considerably ahead of me seasonally. I find that I only get damage on whites, not the darker colors.

Earwigs are bad for me here, slugs too

Thanks! I don't see JB on the roses yet so maybe I have earwigs and/or slugs. I have seen slugs around other plants so maybe that is what it is. I have been meaning to try Diatomaceous Earth for slugs.

Maybe I will stick to dark colors in the future.

Not just petals, but snails and slugs absolutely destroy my Clematis the moment they show their noses in the spring. Without slug pellets, I'd have no Clematis at all in my garden. Once they are established I can't prune them to the ground. I have to leave at least 3 feet of stem just to get a head start on the gastropods.

Slugs! I'm convinced that I have more slugs per inch than anywhere else on earth. And they love clems!
