Just this past week, I googled the purple flowers, I too decided I needed to know the name of the 'weed' I introduced to my property a few years ago, and the one that looks most like mine said it is a mustard family wild flower.http://www.wildflowers-and-eeds.com/Plant_Families/Brassicaceae.htm

Ditch weed would be more accurate as one comes across them along tree lines not too far from roads. I have both purple and white. The link above looks most accurate to me. I would notice them in wild areas as we traveled around in early spring. Shade/flower I had to have one. They are fragrant too. I got a couple from a neighbor and in the last couple of years they have EXPLODED. They spread by seed and once bloom is over I will thin them mightily. I won't allow anything to compete for water with my hosta as the hot summer approaches. I will move many deeper into the tree line around our property. Most things in my garden are taller than "normal" due to the lack of sun. They are all STRETCHING it seems. We had such a wet summer last year and this spring. The hosta are all so big and lovely. Spring always AMAZES me. When one considers THIS is my view with or with out snow, 7 mos of the year the green seems almost miraculous to me.

I love the hostas among tye trees. Very tropical and lush.
