Incrediball Blush

9 years ago

I planted two Incrediball Blush hydrangea last Fall. They both receive 4 hours of afternoon sun ( zone 5). They are growing nicely next to each other; however one is slower to grow and has pale leaves compared to other.

any thoughts ?

the first picture is the one slower to grow with pale leave

thankx

    Agree- pH issues because of the proximity of all that concrete would be my first thought. Have you had a soil test done recently? It would be really informative!

    Also agree that there isn't enough room for these shrubs in that location.

    Thanks for your comments

    I will check the PH today ;

    you both right the space is not good for two shrubs I have to move the smaller one but the only place I got is near a tree where a group of Annabelles are planted and growing happily. The space is 4x4 Receives dappled light shade from early morning until 1 pm where the light will be more intense ( but still indirect light) up to 6 pm. Then it receives direct late sun from 6 pm to sunset (8 pm ?)

    is this a good site for incrediball Blush ? Next to a happy Annabelle?

    thanks

    Arborescens will happily grow almost anywhere in z5 except deep shade, which is a maybe. But yeah, it looks like there's about room for one mature plant in your picture. Consider centering that one and using companion plants on either side of it.

    I also do personally like to alternate pink with white arborescens.

    I removed the smaller shrub and gave it to my brother. I wanted to create a larger space for full grown single shrub with good root system. Thanks for your advice !!

    i checked the PH level on the edge and the centre of the hole it's more of acidic

    reading at the edge PH =6

    centre =5

    any thoughts ?

    thanks

    Hi Fadi,these pictures will give idea just how big incrediballs can get.... 6/8 hrs sun

    incredi on left ...Annabelle between inv 1

    I do notice the Incrediballs are getting taller! I trimmed all my arborescens back to about 18" and both my Inc are at least 67" and will probably hit 72" here shortly. I'll actually be VERY impressed if the Blush version (currently have one young'n) can reach this same height.

    I moved the Incrediball Blush to a new location ( my brother house) , planted next to it little lime.
