It certainly looks like a Clematis vine in my opinion. Since it is flourishing well, you should see the blooms soon. That is one sure way you can put to rest your concerns,

Ok, good. I am just not use to the vines loooking thick and not floppy. They had 2 pots of blue angels and they both look the same. I'm use to them looking like this. The stem on the left is the blue angel and the one on the right is perrin's pride. But the leaves do look similar

are clematis fast growers? or do they really take forever to bloom?

I guess it depends on your level of patience and the size plant. Most of the quart pots, second year plants have a flower or two for me the first year in my garden with more vines and flowers the second year. But they don't look really good until about the third year. Planting deep 4" or deeper than in the pot helps as does hard pruning them for the first year or two. If you start with one of the stick-in-a-bag plants from a big box store it will take longer, and if you start with a 5 gallon plant it will be nice the first year.

So they don't size up as quickly as pole beans or Black-eyed Susan vine/Thunbergia, but they bloom sooner than climbing hydrangea which often takes 5-10 years.
